Hardin Construction Upgrades Housing, Historic Buildings At Rapidly Growing Savannah State University

>

Hardin Construction Provider has begun a $19.9 million project to build new student housing and renovate two historical buildings on the campus of Savannah State University.

The student-housing component consists of demolition of an existing structure to make way for 3 new buildings totaling 607 beds and 170,000 square feet that will feature suite and semi-suite style housing for freshmen females and men. Additionally, renovation of historic Adams and Morgan halls, which date to the early 1920s and 1930s, will give spaces for academic, conference and social areas in support of the new residence hall. The project will also incorporate the addition of hardscape and pedestrian areas.

The construction will support student enrollment growth at Savannah State University.

The architect of record is HADP Architecture, Inc., of Atlanta.
Hardin, which has built a lot more than five million square feet of higher-education facilities, is scheduled to total the project in January of 2012.
