Speaking to the media after closing the deal last week, winning consortium Connect Plus chief executive Tim Jones said: “We started work last night. We have been on clearing the verges and removing white lines and chevrons.” Jones added that more significant work would begin today with the start of verge excavation and contraflows introduced.
Connect Plus comprises Balfour Beatty, Skanska, Atkins and Egis Projects. The M25 concession will run for 30 years and involves widening the motorway at key points from three to four carriageways in each direction. In addition, the existing road will be resurfaced and central reservations and lighting will be replaced.
