Yes Jeff Lee at the heavy haulage equipment specialists Tiandi heavy Industries in China makes a most welcome return to BLB, not least to tell me: "Hi Brian, here's another transformer move inSouthern China done by the same client using 2 x Actros 8x8 with a 12x4 TIANDI TJV4 multi-axle trailers. The 1000MW transformer weighed 542-tons (LxWxH, 10.5mx3.86mx5.5m), which is the biggest transformer that has ever been transported and used in China!" Here you see it being loaded and Jeff explains: "The TJV4 12x4 trailer's maximum loading capacity is 696-tons. with 20m length and 6.22m width. Two sets of load distribution beam systems were installed to distribute the 542-ton weight balance safely on to the trailer platform and to avoid any point overload during transportation."
And here it is on the move with an Actros 8x8 at both ends...

The name of this project is: The construction of No.2 contract in the project of Tianjin Metro line 2, constructed by The fifth construction corporation of ChinaCoal.
The Project begins form West YanAn road station to West JieYuan road station. Time limit for the project is from March 2010 to October 2010.
TIANDI has two EPB TBM been operating in this project. Up until now the First machine have finished 613 segment rings, second one have finished 508 segment rings.
Geological conditions:
The area along the Tianjin Metro line 2 is alluvial plain, which all covered by Cenozoic sediments, most condition is Continental deposit.
Affected by the transgression and regression in Late Quaternary Period, sedimentary layer have been formed on the mutual area of ocean and land.
The thickness and position of sedimentary layer are different along the Metro line, but obvious regularity for cause of formation can be found.
Jeff Lee who works for Tiandi Heavy Industries in China, the manufacturers of fine modular heavy haulage trailers has sent me these shots of Chinese heavy haulage movements, including this monster one through an underpass! Up front is a rather nice Actros Titan 8x8. This one shows a load test takign place at the Tiandi factory..Tiandi make all sorts of special trailers from giant beam units to modular platforms...
And here's a Volvo hauling an 18 axle set modular unit from Tiandi with a vessel for the Chinese nuclear industry....
And don't run away with the idea that Tiandi kit is only used in China..it pops up all over the place..this 14-line modular low loader is in bahrain..and how about that classic Bulldog up front?

December 19th, 2009. TIANDI HEAVY INDUSTRIES has just lauched the first EPB Shield Machine - "TIANDI No. 1" (cooperated with MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES) in THI's new Wuhan JIANGXIA production base. This is a remarkable day for all people from THI.
"TIANDI No. 1" - EPB Shield Machine is ordered by ChinaCoal Corp., will be used on the new metro project of TIANJIN CITY. Its main body has an 6.4m diameter cutter head, with 6 different function carriages follow with, total length over 60ms. Main parts and technology is supported by MHI.
With the support of MHI, THI is able to supply customer with integrated world class Shield machine product & service with design, assembly, operation and after sales services.
THI will manufacture full face excavation shield machines not only just for Metro projects, but also for railway tunnel, Cross river tunnel, oil/gas/water and civil tunnel engineerings.

Road... What road...? Jeff says the move was carried out using two 480hp MAN 6x6 prime mover, 2x10lines TIANDI TJV1-k type Hydraulic modular trailers. The contract called for the transportation of five 150-tonne MAN Diesel Engines from Port Sudan to Atbara over a distance:of 500km...

After a one week reassembling, commissioning and training under the temperature of 45-50C in Port Sudan, the whole transport team with THI-FLJ After sales team are all ready. Two TIANDI modular trailers are ready for their first heavy transport mission in Sudan.
Today FLJ will present you a full follow-up report for the two 10 axle lines TJV1-k type HMT on the tough journey!
